Buffalo TS5810DN NAS Firmware 5.80
Bug Fixes:&
&- [USB Drives]: Fixed a bug where if a USB drive was connected to the TeraStation while the firmware is updated to version 5.72 or 5.76, the USB drive became unwritable. If your TeraStation&’s firmware version is either 5.72 or 5.76, update the firmware to the latest version with the USB drive connected to resolve the issue.&
&
How to Use the Updater:&
& 1. Connect the TeraStation properly and configure the TeraStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different.&
&For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are&&
& " 192.168.0.10 , 255.255.255.0 "&&
&and the IP address and subnet mask of the TeraStation are&&
& " 192.168.1.150 , 255.255.255.0 "&&
& then the updater will _not_ work properly.&&
&In this case, reconfigure the TeraStation's IP address and subnet mask to&&
& " 192.168.0.150 , 255.255.255.0 ".&&
&Then they will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly.&&
2. Close all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software. &
3. Extract the downloaded file and run "TSUpdater.exe". When a TeraStation is detected, an update window will open.&
4. Select the TeraStation to update if multiple TeraStation are connected.&
5. Click "Update" and enter the TeraStation's admin password.&
6. Click "OK".&
7. Transferring and updating the firmware will start. Wait until it finishes. The info LED will blink during the update.&
8. When the update finishes, a message will be displayed.& &
&
Updating Firmware:&
&- Do not turn off the TeraStation until the firmware update is completed and the &“Finished&” message appears.&
- Disconnect iSCSI volumes using the iSCSI initiator before updating the firmware.&
- If you are using firmware version 4.00 and log files were created between updating the firmware to version 4.00 and now, these log files may be deleted when updating the firmware. Make sure you have backed up the necessary log files to a different folder that is not on the TeraStation before updating the firmware.&
- If your TeraStation meets the following conditions, the TeraStation may not boot after restarting or updating the firmware: (1) The I70 and I71 information messages appear frequently, (2) The firmware is version 4.00. Although data on the TeraStation will be kept if the issue has already occurred on your TeraStation, there is no way to recover from the issue by yourself. Contact Buffalo technical support for assistance. If the issue hasn&’t occurred yet, you may prevent the issue by changing the TeraStation&’s log settings. Refer to the procedures below to change file access log settings.&
- Delete all existing file access logs. If the log files are necessary, copy them to another location. (Settings &> Management &> Logs &> File Access Logs &> Delete &> Yes)&
- Change the settings to save fewer file access logs. (Settings &> Management &> Logs &> Edit &> Change archive rule settings. Units: Size / File Sizes: 100 MB / Versions: 13)&
&
Notes:&
&- Make sure the TeraStation&’s MTU size is set to a value smaller than that of the hub or router. Larger MTU sizes may not allow data to be transferred to the TeraStation properly.&
- This firmware will send your usage information to Buffalo automatically. To disable this function, open Settings after updating the firmware to this version, then navigate to &‘Management&’ &> &‘Update&’ &> &‘Edit&’ and disable &“Update Notification&”.&
- Since firmware version 4.36, saved settings cannot be applied from a USB drive that contains saved settings from a unit that was running firmware version 4.32 or earlier. In such a case, create the settings restoration USB drive again using a unit running firmware version 4.36 or later.&
- Do not update the firmware from version 3.11 or earlier to 3.12 or later if the TeraStation is a TS51210RH series model and two UPS devices are connected to it. If the unit has been updated already, reconfigure the UPS settings.&
- If you are using firmware version 3.04 or earlier and the backup source or destination folder name contains &“%&”, that backup job should be reconfigured after updating the firmware to version 3.12 or later.&
- If you are using firmware version 4.00 and configure the SMB protocol version to 2.2.2 or higher, the TeraStation may not be accessible from the client devices. In such a case, change the SMB version to 2.1 or lower.&
- If settings are initialized with an iSCSI volume that had been created using an LVM-enabled drive or array, that iSCSI volume mode may be displayed as &“NAS&”, instead of &“iSCSI&” on the NAS volume list. Even if in such a case, the iSCSI volume remains accessible via the iSCSI initiator.&
- If you are using firmware version 5.40 or earlier, data may be erased from OneDrive when renaming or moving folders on OneDrive and OneDrive Sync is enabled on the TeraStation with bidirectional sync mode and either a 1, 5, or 10 minute-sync period configured. Please update the firmware to the latest version.&
About Network-Attached Storage Updates:&
&Upgrading the Network-Attached Storage (NAS) firmware can improve the system's overall performance, stability, and security by adding various fixes for related issues, enhancing existing features (or adding support for new ones), or updating different applications.&
&
Due to the high number of NAS manufacturers, as well as network storage types, installing a new firmware might not be always as easy as it appears &– and not too safe either. Failing to perform a software update can cause serious malfunctions to the network storage.&
&
So, before you even consider applying this release, carefully read the installation guide and initiate the process only when you have understood and completely familiarized yourself with all the steps.&
&
Moreover, it would be best if you take into account using a UPS unit (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to perform this task, because no power disruption should affect the upgrade.&
&
With all these aspects in mind, after you have read the installation guide, click the download button to apply this firmware version to your NAS. Remember to check back with our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.&
