SharePoint Column/View Permission Manage column and view level permissions Restrict users' access to confidential and sensitive content. Enhance Column Level Permissions Hide columns or make columns read-only so that unauthorized users will not see or edit sensitive data in a list. You can also hide columns in Alert Me emails, in datasheet view, or in the version history, minimizing the risk of exposing sensitive data. Control View Level Permissions By setting permission for each view in a SharePoint list, you can ensure that your confidential information is accessible only to those whom you have granted access. When a view is set as hidden or read-only, users will not have access to or be able to modify any views unless you specifically grant them permission. Assign Column Permission Based On Roles Besides assigning column permissions to users, groups or user columns (such as Assign To), you can also create rules based on users roles to determine who can access columns, such as only allowing Managers to modify the content of columns, ensuring the right people can access the right information. Assign Permissions Dynamically Via Conditions With conditions, you can determine whether and when columns should be visible, read-only or hidden, or which columns should be accessed by whom. This is very useful when your organization stores sensitive content alongside non-sensitive content. Disable Ribbon Buttons You can prevent specified users from accessing certain SharePoint functions by disabling ribbon buttons in a list or library; including Datasheet View, RSS Feed, Export to Excel, and Open with Explorer and more. Restrict Users to Create Views In SharePoint, users can create personal or public views if they have proper permissions. View permission allows you to control the “Create View” function and disable it without any permission changes so that the specified users cannot create view in list.
