Ghouls ‘n Ghosts is a platform video game developed by Capcom in 1988. The game was released for the first time as a platform arcade game and was ported to many other platforms over the time. The game is a sequel to Ghosts ‘n Goblins.

The gameplay of the two games are similar. The player controls knight Arthur and must advance through a series of levels and defeat demonic creatures in order to restore the souls stolen by Lucifer. In the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Sega Master System versions Lucifer is called Loki. Lucifer stole the soul of Arthur’s lover as well, Princess Prin Prin. Arthur can use throughout the game a variety of weapons and armor.

In order to finish the game, Arthur must complete it twice. The first time the completion allows a special weapon to appear in the next round. The second time Arthur Is allowed to fire directly upward and downward while in mid air, otherwise the gameplay of the second game is identical with the one in the first game.

Arthur can jump in certain places and cause a treasure to erupt from the ground. Players may uncover new weapons, gold armor or get Arthur changed into an elderly man or a helpless duck. Each of the weapons has a special attack Arthur can use.
